Design team feature on Christy

This week's design team feature is on Christy Davis.  We hope you are enjoying learning more about our team!

Th_ChristyDavis

Name?

Christy Davis

What are three adjectives you would use to best describe yourself?

Fun, silly, and caring

Can you tell us a little about your family and/or pets?

I have been married to Bryan for almost 5 years, after having a crush on him in high school and going almost ten years after graduation without talking to him at all!  He is my best friend and so worth waiting for.  We have two children, Hannah (3) and Logan (1 ½) who keep me very busy.  I feel so blessed!

How long have you been scrapbooking?

I’ve been scrapbooking since I got married, so almost 5 years!

Why did you begin scrapbooking?

I wanted to start documenting the adventures my husband and I went on together after we got married.  My first page was of our new house, but I still haven’t scrapped all of my wedding pictures! J

What has been the most interesting or exciting scrapbooking experience you’ve had?

This fall I was privileged to be able to be a part of three design teams that have kept me busy, challenged, and enjoying scrapbooking.  It’s been such a fun and stretching experience and I hope to continue to be involved with others in the future.

What is your favorite manufacturer(s)?

I love American Crafts, Pink Paislee, Sassafrass Lass, and 3 Bugs in a Rug probably the most for paper lines.  Heidi Swapp is my favorite all around designer/manufacturer for other products.

What are your favorite colors?

My favorite colors are yellow and pink – I love how bright, cheery, and girly they are!

What product(s) can you not live without right now?

Thickers!  I use them on almost every page and love how easy they are for titles.  I also am liking the tiny alpha stickers by Making Memories and My Little Shoebox for other words on layouts.

Where do you find inspiration?

I love to read my Creating Keepsakes magazine every month when it comes in the mail.  I also love checking out designers’ blogs.

What do you do when you get stuck in a “scrappers rut” or a “creative block”?

I pull out some magazines and look through them.  I also organize layouts I’ve loved out of magazines or sketches by number of photos in them, so when I’m stuck beginning a page, I can go to the sheet protector that has ideas with as many photos on the page as I have for my page.  This always helps me get going.

What is your favorite scrapping snack?

Chex Mix

What kind of camera do you have?

I have a Canon Rebel XTi, and I also just got a Canon Cybershot camera so that I have something lightweight for traveling.

Do you shoot pictures in manual or automatic?

I am trying to shoot mostly in manual or somewhat manual, but sometimes with little kids, I just can’t figure it out fast enough to keep up with them!

What is your favorite thing(s) to photograph?

My kiddos.  I also enjoy taking pictures of anything that has to do with certain holidays.

Do you have any hobbies besides scrapbooking?

I love to read, especially Christian fiction.  I’m a huge Karen Kingsbury fan.  I also love to shop, but I try not to indulge in that hobby too much or it could be dangerous! J

What is your best piece of advice to share with other scrapbookers?

Don’t be afraid to try new things and just have fun.  In this scrapbooking culture, I think it’s easy to be pressured into making every layout look good enough to be submitted for something.  That’s not what our families are going to remember, so try to remember what ultimately you are scrapbooking for.  Make every page YOU, even if it ends up looking totally different than what is “in” and being accepted for magazine publications right now.

Here's Jana's take on sketch #8...

Sketch#8_JanaEubank

And a little about Jana:
I am more than thrilled to be a Guest Designer for Inspired Blueprints!  A little about me . . . I'm just a regular gal that names scrapbooking as my passion! I completely love it! I enjoy the creative outlet it gives me as well as the satisfaction of making something that pays tribute to what is most important to me in life . . . my family. I have been scrapbooking for over 10 years. It's become a part of my daily life and a part who I am. My scrapbooking style is eclectic with clean lines with a little shabbiness thrown in. If I'm not scrapping, I'm perusing interior design magazines, hanging out at scrapbook message boards, or celebrating life with my family. I enjoy designing for BackPorch Memories and Noel Mignon kits. You can also find me at my blog: From My Feathered Nest. I'm hopelessly addicted to chocolate and Diet Coke and love listening to Pandora radio while I scrap. I am a stay-at-home mom to 3 daughters and 1 son and have been married to my best friend, Kevin, for almost 11 years. We live in Bountiful, Utah. Thank you so much for having me!

THANK YOU, once again, Jana for your beautiful and inspiring layout. :)

Our designers had a go at the sketch too and here's what they did...

Orange

What product(s) can you not live without right now? American Crafts Thickers and Pop Dots J

SKETCH #7

Welcome everyone to 2009! We hope your new year is off to a wonderful start and we've got some fabulous scrapping inspiration to kick start the new year.
We're also celebrating the new year with our new Design Team reveal and a Guest Designer for every sketch. But that's not all, we're also gonna adapt our sketches to 8.5x11" layouts as well as cards to show how versatile they can be. So sit back and be inspired this year with Inspired Blueprints. :)
Without further ado, this is our new sketch ...
SKETCH200807
It's a wonderful multi-photo sketch, perfect for scrapping those Christmas pictures you've just taken over the holidays. :)
Our first and Guest Designer for this sketch is the incredibly talented, Kristine Collins. Here is Kristine's take on our sketch...
Sketch#7-kristinecollins
And here's a bit about Kristine...
Kristine-headshot
My name is Kristine Collins and I live up in sunny Queensland,
Australia. I have been scrapbooking for about 4 years now, on and off
and currently design for Chatterbox and Designing Memories (an Aussie
kit club). I also love to make cards, which is a newer hobby of mine
for which I wish I had more time to pursue. I love to focus on a good
photo (maybe a few) in my layouts and you will find me using
distressing techniques, the odd splash of paint, gorgeous ribbon, rub
ons and inks on a lot of my work. You can visit me (make sure you say
hi!) at my blog - http://kriscee.blogspot.com.

Here's a short blurb from owner, Pam:
I adore the concept of monthly kits. What a great thing to have a box
arrive at your front door every month full of coordinated supplies to
jumpstart your creativity. I adore kraft paper, it goes so well with
anything! Kraft Girl Kits was born from these two loves. In every kit
you will receive a piece of kraft paper and coordinated mix of products
to get you scrapping. Please check us out at www.kraftgirlkits.com.
And the prize for this month... the gorgeous January kit from Kraft Girls Kits.
